While other writers keep a look out for what’s new and hot on the mainstream and the underground, I do the exact opposite by writing about shameful attempts at hip hop hits on the radio. The most recent disappointment I have heard was E-40′s new album not-so-cleverly entitled “The Ball Street Journal”, which is almost as witty as his last album title “My Ghetto Report Card”. E-40 was at one point in the 90s a hit rapper, who produced gold and platinum albums and even did a song featuring the late, great Tupac Shakur. He disappeared for a number of years and resurfaced with the anthem of the Bay Area, Tell Me When To Go, which also went platinum. The new cd is more mindless, not thought out trash and shouldn’t be purchased by anyone. There is so little to say about this cd because it so overwhelmingly boring and mediocre.

Punch Drunk Love-Common ft. Kanye West and Pharel
Sorry, Enough Kanye for a while!

I don’t know what to make of this album. One minute it seems a wrong decision for Ye’s career, and later I feel its the best thing he has put out for a while. However, there is one solid fact about this album, it IS ground breaking for the genre of hip-hop. When I first heard about this album a few months back, honestly, I was disgusted. When Love Lockdown came out, I was disappointed…But now, I see why Kanye made this record. It is a good album, and I have to say I really enjoy it…Hearing the album all together really made it sound great, and I’m Glad Kanye was able to convert me.
Positive Tracks:Say You Will, Welcome to Heartbreak, Heartless, Amazin, Street Lights, See You in my Nightmares, Coldest Winter, Pinocchio Story
Negative Tracks:Robocop (Sorry, I just hate this song), Bad News, Welcome to Heartbreak(The New Version)
On the fence:Love Lockdown, Paranoid
My favorite tracks: See You in my nightmare ( we hear Wayne actually tell a story in a verse), Amazin’, Street Lights, Heartless, and Pinocchio Story.
Honestly, I have to give it to Ye, He took the most annoying tool in hip-hop/R&B and made it enjoyable for me. One Question though: What the hell did he do to “Welcome to Heartbreak”. When it leaked, it was the hottest shit out…now it sounds horrible

“Therapy” – The alchemist with Blu, Evidence and Kid Cudi
Music is my therapy, this song speaks straight to me and I’m sure to a lot of you guys. The alchemist cooked up a beat to die for on this one, not to mention Kudi’s voice on the track which is essentially the icing on the cake. Really enjoy it…dope shit

The new Lil Wayne mixtape, Dedication 3, is far less exciting to hear after having heard Carter 3, which could be considered a masterpiece of pop music in the sense that any track on the album could be a hit, not in the sense that any of his raps are ever interesting or fresh or new. The Dedication 3 is simply a distant echo of Carter 3 and several of these beats and lines have been used in previous mixtapes. Dedication 3 is either just another way to make money or to do exactly did do, promote up and coming artists in the “Cash Money Crew”, some of which can’t rap for shit but others can rap, some better than Wayne himself. On an ending note, by the end of this album I wanted to kill DJ Drama for yelling everything he says, especially “BARACK ODRAMA”.

Sorry for the lack of postage last night, we had to attend a banger until midnight…and the after party…you dig?

Anyways, Ludacris put out this track last night with Hov and Nas. This song’s message is what we’re all about at hypekillaz, but the wax isnt the hottest we’ve heard from these guys. Good Collabo though.

In contrast to the much awaited Blueprint 3 and 808′s and Heartbreak, one of the least respected rappers in the game, Soulja Boy, will be releasing a second album which was neither expected or anticipated by anyone. The album, much like his first album “souljaboytellem.com”, also has an internet related title, dubbed “iSoulja Boy Tellem” and is set to release on December 16th. The latest single “Birdwalk” seems to just be a remix of his first hit, Crank Dat, and is the most underwhelming popular single to come out since any of the Crank Dat’s or possibly even MIMS’ “This Is Why I’m Hot”. I speak for all of our writers when I say, if this is the future of hip hop, I pray he learns how to rap.

Adressing people not paying attention to music. He speaks on becoming known, and popular. There’s a difference between wack and popular.
shouts to BoBO on this one.

Just checked the inbox and my homie steve blessed me with two Kanye West tracks. I don’t know what to say. I guess this is a Love Lockdown situation, where it has to listen to the tracks a few times before I go and judge it. Damn son, tracks are getting leaked by the hour.

Pyramids are a local rap group made up of D Dand and J Viz. D Dand’s raps emulate the 90s styles of Big L and early Nas, while J Viz’s beats rely heavily on experimental jazz sampling. This demo is better than any of the hip hop you will hear on the radio for years to come (assuming they don’t end up on the radio themselves). If you are a true hip hop fan be sure to download their new demo. These rhymes will leave you with your jaw dropped. Check Kickfluential’s post for the download site.
Madukes has been saying this since november the fourth, and Will.I.Am decided to write a song about it. But kids, do a favor, and don’t stop being interested in politics because the race is over, the real work has yet to come.

I’m actually sorry that we’ve been so inconsistent recently. But here’s hoping that will stop.
First, the animated video premiere of “Heartless” by Yeezy. An interesting video for my favorite off “808′s”.
Next a CDQ from Hov’. I’m assuming that it’s off of Blueprint 3, but nevertheless it’s solid, and I’m pretty sure that it refers to Obama in there.
